Leeds United striker Chris Wood has told The Sun that he wants to play in the Premier League.

Wood has featured in the top flight of English football before, first with West Bromwich Albion and then with Leicester City.

The New Zealand international striker could not make a massive impact in the Premier League with the Baggies or the Foxes.

The 25-year-old, though, has made it clear that he wants to play in the Premier League.

“I’ve only had a taster of the Premier League with ten or so sub appearances,” Wood told The Sun. “It’s somewhere I want to be.

“I always want to strive to get there and become a regular there. It’s something hopefully we can achieve as a club and for me personally.”

Wood could get the chance to play in the Premier League next season with Leeds, who are going strong in the Championship at the moment.

The West Yorkshire outfit are currently fourth in the standings with 61 points from 34 matches.

The Whites are nine points behind second-placed Newcastle United and 10 behind leaders Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Magpies and the Seagulls each have a game in hand, and Wood has admitted that it is going to hard for Garry Monk’s side to catch them.

“Automatic promotion is going to be tough,” Wood told The Sun. “Brighton and Newcastle are a few points clear of us.

“But we’re not going to shy away from a challenge. We’ll keep doing what we’re doing and see where it takes us.”

Leeds will return to action on Friday evening when they take on Birmingham City away from home at St. Andrew’s in the Championship.
