Chris Wood has been a key part of the Leeds United side that is threatening to secure promotion out of the Championship.
Leeds United’s Chris Wood
Chris Wood has issued an emphatic response when asked by the EFL Weekly Podcast what it is that makes Leeds United so special.
Like many of his teammates, Wood has enjoyed a sensational season for the Whites. His 24 league goals – 11 more than he achieved in exactly the same number of games last term – makes him the top goalscorer in the Championship and have inspired Garry Monk’s men towards a play-off spot in the division.
Understandably therefore, there is a great atmosphere around Elland Road currently, and Wood suggested that the supporters have been integral to their success this season especially.
“I think everyone knows,” he told EFL Weekly Podcast when asked what was the most special thing about Leeds.
“It’s the fanbase. You can see how big it is and over the course of the club’s history, it’s massive.”
Leeds’ Chris Wood celebrates after he scores their first goal
With Leeds boasting a relatively thin squad, they may need every piece of help and luck they can get as the regular season begins to reach a conclusion, and the play-offs – which Monk’s men are surely on course to qualify for – begin.
And while staying fortunate with injuries and suspensions will be crucial, the continued support from the fans – especially on the potentially crucial away trips to Reading and Newcastle during April – could have a massive impact on whether Leeds manage to carry on their progression to the Premier League.
