The Championship side have secured several signings already this summer, but have made a mixed start to the season.

Chris Wood has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he believes that Leeds United already have a squad capable of moving themselves up the Championship table, so do not necessarily need anymore new faces before the window shuts.

The Whites have made six permanent signings this summer, while another five players have arrived on loan.

Nevertheless, life under Garry Monk got off to a disappointing start as the club lost their opening two league games, required penalties to see off Fleetwood in the League Cup and were minutes away from losing once again at home to Fulham last week.

However, Wood’s stoppage-time equaliser secured a point against the Cottagers, and the New Zealander was once again on the scoresheet at the weekend as United claimed an impressive 2-0 victory away at Sheffield Wednesday.

The recent glimmers of positively may therefore be what has inspired Wood to suggest that unless a special talent becomes available, Leeds are able to put the chequebook away for this summer.

“We’ve strengthened quite well and in every area. We have good numbers,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“The gaffer will be looking to see if there’s anything out of ordinary that we can take advantage of to improve the squad but I think we’ve got a great squad and one that can push up the table.”

Although the first two league games of the season saw Leeds struggle for long periods, there were brief glimpses of quality during those fixtures that suggested that the side had the potential to do well.

And now that they have backed that up by battling back to secure a point against Fulham and a win against the Owls, it appears that they are more than confident that there could be enough quality within their ranks already to allow them to put their woeful start behind them.
