Burnley are reportedly interested in signing Chris Wood from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United striker Chris Wood has taken to social networking site Twitter to explain why he is not going to play for the team today.

The West Yorkshire outfit will take on Sunderland away from home at the Stadium of Light in the Championship this evening.

Wood is one of the best players in the current Leeds team and is their first-choice striker, but he will not feature today.

The New Zealand international has released a statement on his official Twitter page explaining why he will not be in the team for Leeds.

The 25-year-old has revealed that discussions are going on with a club in the Premier League club regarding a move.

Although Wood has not mentioned the Premier League club who is interested in him by name, one suspects that it is Burnley.

According to The Lancashire Telegraph, Burnley are interested in signing the former Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion striker in the summer transfer window.

The report has also claimed that Leeds have accepted an offer of £15 million plus add-ons for the striker, who will (reportedly) undergo a medical at the Clarets on Sunday.
