Garry Monk resigned as Leeds United manager last week.

Chris Wood has told Press Association he hopes that Garry Monk’s successor at Leeds United keeps the same style which the young manager implemented last term.
Monk – who was on a one-year rolling contract – shocked Leeds last week by resigning, with new owner Andrea Radrizanni later claiming that a three-year deal was on the table for the 38-year-old boss.

The Whites finished seventh in the Championship last term, five points adrift of a playoff spot in what was an otherwise encouraging season for the Yorkshire club.
Leeds, for the most part, certainly seemed like a club on the up under the ex-Swansea City manager.
And although Wood – one of Leeds’ most improved players last season – wishes his old boss the best of luck, the New Zealand hitman is hoping that Monk’s replacement builds on the solid foundations laid by the departed coach.

He told Press Association: “We’ve got the foundations, you have to build on it,” Wood told Press Association Sport.
“We can’t be tearing those down to start new ones. Hopefully the manager that does come in will build on them and bring his own style but keeping the style that we had last season.
“Of course we were hoping he was going to stay on. It’s unfortunate that he had his reasons after speaking with the owner – it just didn’t come to the fore that he could continue.
“It’s football, it’s life, we’ve got to move on from it and look to the future and we wish him all the best.”
The circumstances of his sudden departure may suggest that Monk has another job lined up, and Crystal Palace are favourites to appoint him.
