Leeds United are in a good run of form in terms of results.
Speaking to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Chris Wood has paid tribute to Leeds United’s defence and goalkeeper, describing them as “absolutely fantastic”.
Leeds are bang in the middle of a purple patch after winning their last three games in all competitions – two Championship wins and one League Cup victory.
In that time, Garry Monk’s side have conceded just once in the 2-1 league win over Blackburn Rovers last week, and even that was a fine strike rather than a reflection on the Whites’ back five.
Monk has certainly whipped his defence into shape, and a back four of Luke Ayling, Kyle Bartley, Pontus Jansson and Charllie Taylor, in front of goalkeeper Rob Green, certainly seems to be an excellet unit which does need not tinkering.
At the other end, Wood has scored in all three games in a run of form which has endeared him to Leeds fans, having been something of a divisive figure earlier in the campaign.
But the New Zealand striker has highlighted his defensive team-mates and acknowledged their contribution to the feel-good element surrounding Leeds’ form.
“At the moment we’re grinding out wins and the back five are doing absolutely fantastic in keeping these clean sheets,” he told The Yorkshire Evening Post.
“If they keep doing that we will win more games, I’m telling you.”
