Chris Wood is confident for next season at Leeds United.

Chris Wood has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Leeds United are a club moving in the right direction.

Leeds have been starved of success in recent times, and since Massimo Cellino has taken over at Elland Road, there has been a great amount of instability.

However, Wood believes that things are improving behind the scenes, and he is confident about Leeds’ chances of success next term.

“The fans have seen some amazing times here and they want to see the club back to that standard,” Wood said.

“It’s going to take a lot of hard work and it’s not going to happen overnight but I feel it’s changing in a good direction here.

“There were a few problems last season which have drastically changed this season. It’s not perfect by any means but I can see behind the scenes that it’s changing for the best and that gives me confidence.

“We’ve got a great squad and a great team. We can be top six (next season), I 100 per cent believe that. We’ve got an average age of 23, 24 with some experience thrown in. I definitely believe we can be up there.”

Leeds appear to be heading into a period of uncertainty ahead of next campaign, with current manager Steve Evans’ future still unknown.

Evans has promised Leeds fans that he will guide them into the play off places if he is kept on next season, but it remains to be seen whether he will be offered a new deal.

There have been suggestions in the Daily Mail that Cellino is set to dismiss Evans at the end of the campaign, even though he has led the Yorkshire side up the Championship standings.

Leeds are currently in 12th place in the Championship table – but they are too far back from the play off places to make a late surge for promotion.
