It has been quite a season for Leeds United striker Chris Wood. On Saturday evening, he scored both goals for the West Yorkshire side as they picked up a 2-0 win over promotion rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.
The goals were his 26th and 27th of the season in what has been an incredible campaign for the Kiwi striker.
Such form was unexpected for a player who has, at times, struggled to win over the Leeds faithful in the past.
This season though he has been fantastic and has been discussing the reasons why back in his New Zealand homeland.
Speaking to Stuff he mentioned how the management of Garry Monk had played a major role and the confidence he has picked up from his team-mates at Elland Road:
“The thing that I believe I put it down to is having a manager and team, as in the players, that have believed in me.
“The manager has backed me 100 per cent and the players have got round me and know what I can do, they’ve seen it in training and knew I could do it on the Saturday and they’ve just backed me completely.
“Having that faith from the manager is huge in football, that’s what you need, that’s what you strive for, if you’ve got the backing of your manager you go so much further.”

There is no doubt that the Leeds dressing room is looking in its best shape since Massimo Cellino took over at the club – starting with the coaching staff and filtering down to a happy dressing room of players.
It is helping players like Wood thrive, as his goal tally clearly highlights. Hopefully it can continue to do so as Leeds push for promotion to the Premier League.
