Leeds United boss Garry Monk has reportedly been attracting Norwich City’s attention, and his contract is set to expire this summer.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
Chris Wood has suggested to the Yorkshire Evening Post that he is optimistic that Garry Monk will still be in charge at Leeds next season, and insisted that he is the man to lead the club to success.
Despite the club’s recent form leaving them with a mountain to climb in the race for promotion – they need to take four more points than Fulham if they hope to finish in the top six in the Championship – Monk has done a wonderful job during his first year at Elland Road.
Unsurprisingly, his efforts have not gone unnoticed elsewhere in the division with the Daily Mirror recently reporting that Norwich City are keen on bringing the former Swansea boss to Carrow Road, while the Yorkshire Evening Post confirms that the season is set to end without Monk having a contract in place for next season.
But Wood believes that Monk is the right man to lead the Whites forward, and suggested that he expects him to stick around.
“I’d like to think he’ll be here. He could lead us on to big things,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Leeds Utd’s Chris Wood
While Leeds’ season has somewhat fizzled out – though they can still make the play-offs – there is no question that Monk has done the best job of any Leeds manager in recent years, as the Whites’ promotion hopes had often been realistically dashed by the turn of the year in the recent seasons before this campaign.
And with a number of exciting players within the squad, the Leeds hierarchy must surely realise that keeping Monk could have a major impact on where those key squad members see their futures lying.
