Leeds United striker Chris Wood has just come off the back of an incredible season with the club. He scored 30 goals for Leeds, who came up just short in their hunt for Premier League football.

But his season is not yet over. He is on international duty with New Zealand, who will be competing at this summer’s Confederations Cup in Russia.

Wood will captain the side in the absence of injured West Ham captain Winston Reid, but his nation’s preparation suffered a blow this week with a 1-0 loss to Northern Ireland in a friendly clash.

However, the team and Wood had more luck in another fixture yesterday.

The All Whites took on Dublin club side Cabinteely in Dublin last night, winning an entertaining game 5-2. Wood played just 45 minutes but managed to bag two goals, boosting his and his teams confidence before their next fixture against Belarus in Minsk on Monday.

Wood will take little joy from scoring two goals against a side who are currently fourth in Ireland’s second tier. He will just hope that is not the end of his goal-scoring feats this summer.
