Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has told taken a dig at Arsenal’s players in the Daily Mail after their FA Cup clash yesterday.
Blades lost 2-1 to Arsenal, as the Gunners progressed to the semi-final of the cup competition.
The game wasn’t without controversy though, as Arsenal were awarded a fairly soft penalty in the first-half.
Alexandre Lacazette made the most of some contact from Chris Basham inside the box, and Paul Tierney was quick to point to the spot.
Nicolas Pepe ended up stepping up and firing Arsenal in-front during the contest.
And even though Wilder said he had no complaints about the penalty being given, he did suggest that Arsenal’s players had gone down far too easily throughout the match.
“You don’t need to give an invitation for those players to go over. Maybe it’s natural for them to go over,” he said.
“It’s not normal for me or my players. But he has felt contact, gone down and given the referee a decision to make. If Chris Basham had been more patient, he could have stayed on his feet.”
In the end Sheffield United did manage to equalise through David McGoldrick, but a late strike from Dani Ceballos sent Arsenal through.
Mikel Arteta’s side are now due to face Manchester City in the semi-finals at Wembley.
