Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has told Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho knew that yesterday’s game was going to be a tough one.
Tottenham ran out 3-1 winners over the Premier League’s bottom side yesterday.
But Wilder was struck by how seriously Mourinho was taking the game.
And he said that the Tottenham boss was very vocal on the sidelines throughout.
“I think the manager knew this was potentially going to be a tough game, with his attitude before it,” he said.
“I caught glimpses of him before and during, driving his team on.
“It’s incredibly frustrating because I felt we could get a result here today, but we were architects of our own downfall.”
In the end Tottenham always looked a class above their struggling opponents at Bramall Lane.
Spurs took the lead when Serge Aurier headed home from a corner, before Harry Kane finished well.
David McGoldrick did give the Blades a route back into the game, but their hope was quickly extinguished by Tanguy Ndombele, who scored with a quite brilliant piece of individual skill.
Tottenham’s win has moved them up to fifth place in the Premier League table.
