Chris Wilder has described Leeds United as an ‘exceptional footballing side’ but disagreed with Marcelo Bielsa’s assessment that the Whites deserved all three points against Sheffield United today.

It was Bielsa’s side who stole the bragging rights from this Yorkshire derby as Leeds returned to Elland Road with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Patrick Bamford scored the winner on 88 minutes in a game where the visitors’ goalkeeper Illan Meslier pulled off a string of superb saves when the score was 0-0.

Bielsa suggested afterwards that Leeds were deserving winners after ‘dominating’ the second half.

And although the Blades boss was full of compliments for this afternoon’s visitors, he does not believe that the Argentine’s troops were all over his side.

He said via Leeds Live: “They’re an exceptional footballing side. Well-coached. Today, they’re attack-minded and they haven’t created a lot. Don’t agree with Marcelo they deserved to win. Tight game, but we had the better chances.”

Leeds certainly bossed the game in terms of possession, boasting 64 percent, according to BBC Sport.

The West Yorkshire side also had more shots on target – nine compared to four – and Wilder’s team conceded 17 fouls versus four, illustrating that they found it difficult against the Whites.

This is Leeds’ second-successive Premier League win after beating Fulham 4-3 last weekend.
