The Sheffield United manager is hopeful of keeping the Tottenham Hotspur loanee until the summer.
Chris Wilder has told BBC Radio Sheffield he does not believe that Tottenham Hotspur will recall Cameron Carter-Vickers from his loan spell at Sheffield United.
Carter-Vickers is due to spend the season at Bramall Lane, however an injury to Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld has prompted speculation of a January return for the United States star.
Speaking to Football.London earlier this week, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted it was a decision the club needed to discuss in the coming days.
Asked on Thursday, however, if he had heard from Tottenham regarding Carter-Vickers’ future, Wilder said: “Yeah, we have. It is their right because that’s their football club and they have to do best by their football club.
“I don’t believe they will recall him.”
Referring to Pochettino’s comments to the media, the Sheffield United manager added: “The question got asked to their manager if he had a big injury crisis would he recall them… well of course he would because he needs to make sure that he’s got enough players.”
Carter-Vickers’ early form for Sheffield United led to his first international appearance at the start of November, however, the 19-year-old was dropped for Friday night’s defeat against Bristol City after a handful of questionable displays.
Losing a Tottenham loanee midway through his Bramall Lane spell would be nothing new to Sheffield United, who saw Kyle Walker’s deal abruptly cut short on deadline day seven years ago.
