John Terry was part of the coaching team that helped Aston Villa earn promotion to the Premier League.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has stated that Aston Villa’s John Terry will ‘know’ what decision he wants to make in regards to his future amid interest from Championship side Middlesbrough.
TalkSport recently claimed that managerless Boro, who sacked Tony Pulis after he failed to guide them to a top-six finish, are in talks with Terry for him to become their new manager.
It is said that Terry, who is assistant to Dean Smith at Villa Park, has already begun talks with Middlesbrough chiefs about the vacant role at the Riverside.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football (27/05/2019 at 5:45 pm) after Terry & Co. helped Villa earn promotion to the Premier League, Wilder was asked about Terry’s future.
“First and foremost, he’s not shouting bold about, I should be getting this job, I should be getting that job,” Wilder told Sky Sports Football. “He’s taken the job at Villa as a first-team coach in his first year and he’s been prepared to get his hands dirty and be part of a group and a coaching staff.
“There are some fantastic coaches at Villa. Dean [Smith’s] a fantastic coach. Richard O’Kelly, who has worked with Deano for years and years. And for John to fit into that, it’s not about egos. He’s banked his career. His career has been amazing. He has got his hands dirty.
“He’ll know what decision he wants to make, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays and has another year at it.”

Last season, Terry was playing at the heart of Villa’s defence as they were beaten in the play-off final to Fulham, as the former Chelsea man has been a senior figure for the club in recent seasons.
Soon after, Terry hung up his boots and then in October, he found himself on the coaching staff at Villa after Steve Bruce’s sacking.
Since then, the work of Dean Smith and his coaching staff has resulted in Villa rampaging their way into the top-six and, in the end, earning promotion to England’s top-flight.
