Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice for Fulham against Sheffield United on Tuesday night.
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has been quoted by The Chronicle as saying that Fulham loanee Aleksandar Mitrovic shouldn’t be in the Championship.
Wilder took his Blades side to Craven Cottage on Tuesday night to take on a flying Fulham side, who have been the Championship’s most impressive team in 2018.
Fulham were rampant in a 3-0 win, as striker Aleksandar Mitrovic impressed, first turning home Ryan Frederick’s cross for 1-0, before a nonchalant flick from Stefan Johansen’s pass made it 2-0.
Tom Cairney added a third after the break, as Fulham kept up their unbeaten run and also kept one eye on the automatic promotion spots after yet another win.
It’s fair to say that deadline day signing Mitrovic has made a huge impact since his move from Newcastle, as his brace against Sheffield United made it five goals in four games.
The Serbian hitman, 23, was a deadline day coup for Fulham as he made a move to West London, having been virtually frozen out of the Newcastle side this season.
Now, Sheffield United boss Wilder has been quoted by The Chronicle as saying that Mitrovic shouldn’t be anywhere near the Championship, and should be in the Newcastle side, disagreeing with Benitez’s decision on the striker.
Wilder added that Mitrovic is going to the World Cup with Serbia and cost around £15million, meaning he should be in the top flight and not the second tier.
“He shouldn’t playing in the division,” said Wilder. “He should be playing at Newcastle . He has made the decision to drop down. Mitrovic is an outstanding player and thankfully we won’t be coming up against him in the next 11 games.”
“He’s going to the World Cup, Newcastle paid what for him? £15million. He should be playing in the Premier League,” he added.
