Should Tottenham Hotspur make a move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez?
Former Newcastle United star Chris Waddle has stated on social networking site Twitter that he would have Leicester City ace Riyad Mahrez at Tottenham Hotspur.
When asked to name one Premier League player he would have at Spurs, the former Tottenham star mentioned the name of the Leicester winger.
Mahrez is a very good winger who has proven himself in the Premier League, but his performances since Leicester’s title-winning campaign have not been great or consistent.
While the Algeria international can get past people and can create chances, he does lack consistency and does not always perform.
Tottenham are already Premier League title challengers, and having Mahrez in the team would not have too much of a difference.
True, the former Le Havre star would add to the squad strength, but it is hard to see the 26-year-old winger play regularly for Mauricio Pochettino’s first team.
For Spurs to go to the next level, they need world-class players, and Mahrez is not world class.
