Chris Waddle has praised Kyle Walker-Peters for his brilliant performance against Newcastle United.

Tottenham Hotspur opened the 2017/18 Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday.

Dele Alli and Ben Davies scored for Spurs in the second half, and young right-back Kyle Walker-Peters made his senior debut for the club.

The 20-year-old was drafted into the starting XI following injury to right back Kieran Trippier, and got his senior career off to a flying start with an outstanding performance, earning himself a Man of the Match award in the process.

The youngster looked unfazed right from the beginning and capped off a brilliant debut without putting a foot wrong in the match.

Former Tottenham player and BBC pundit, Chris Waddle, praised the youngster, saying he looked “comfortable” and that he “fits in very well”.

“Kyle Walker-Peters looks comfortable and looks like he fits in very well with the team,” said Waddle on BBC 5 live Sport.

The youngster made two tackles and three clearances during the match, and made one key pass as well, according to whoscored.com.

Walker-Peters has a long way to go, but he has shown that he has the potential to become a top-class defender in the future.
