BBC pundit Chris Waddle has showered praise on Newcastle United defender Javier Manquillo.
Newcastle United suffered a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in their opening Premier League match of the brand new 2017/18 season at St James’ Park on Sunday.
Goals from Dele Alli and Ben Davies sealed the victory for Spurs, while Jonjo Shelvey was sent off for stamping on Alli in the second half.
Former Tottenham Hotspur winger and now BBC pundit, Chris Waddle, has singled out Newcastle right-back Javier Manquillo with praise for his performance.

Manquillo, who spent the last season on loan at Sunderland, joined the Magpies this summer from Atletico Madrid on a permanent deal.
The Spaniard was solid in defence and looked dangerous every time when he joined the attack. In the second half, he even got one good opportunity to score with a header, but couldn’t keep it on target.
Waddles is impressed with Manquillo’s energy and pace, and expects him to get better as the season progresses.
“Javier Manquillo has been steady and had a bit of pace. He has got a good engine and I am sure he will get better,” said Waddle to BBC 5 live Sport.
Manquillo made two tackles and five clearances during the game, according to whoscored.com.
