Former Sheffield Wednesday star Chris Waddle has suggested he would be open to taking on the vacant manager’s job at the club.

The Owls fired Carlos Carvalhal over the festive period, with the manager going on to take the Swansea City job.

Lee Bullen has taken temporary charge as caretaker boss, although as The Sheffield Star reports, is not keen on taking the job full-time.

Former star Chris Waddle wants to know what the club’s plan is, and has offered his services alongside former teammate John Sheridan.

Waddle spent four years at Sheffield Wednesday as a player in the 1990s, during their spell in the Premier League.

Since retiring he has worked regularly in the media but has no management experience.

Sheridan has managed four clubs, with three stints at Oldham Athletic, although has never coached at Championship level.

The pair would provide ‘passion’ for Sheffield Wednesday, but it would be a gamble for the Owls if they decided to go down this route.
