Celtic are out of the Champions League qualifiers after losing to Midtjylland in Denmark this evening – and Chris Sutton isn’t impressed.

The Bhoys could only draw 1-1 in the first leg in Glasgow last week, as Liel Abada’s opener was cancelled out by an equaliser from Evander.

Ange Postecoglou was seeking a big result on the road tonight, and Celtic did take the lead through an absolute screamer of a volley from Callum McGregor.

That’s as good as it got for Celtic though as Awer Mabil equalised for Midtjylland, sending the game to extra time.

It took Midtjylland just four minutes into extra time to claim the winner, with Raphael Onyedika smashed home from close range to send Midtjylland through.

Celtic crash out after a disorganised start to the summer, with their new manager and new signings simply coming in too late.

This has been a recurring theme for Celtic in recent years, and with Champions League football off the table, the Bhoys’ transfer plans could now be hit.

Pundit and ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to share his rage with the result, but absolved boss Postecoglou of any blame.

Sutton feels the Celtic board should be ‘ashamed’ after the defeat, believing this is the culmination of acting too slowly on a repeated basis.
