BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton was left impressed by Celtic’s performance away to Rennes in the UEFA Europa League tonight.

Neil Lennon’s side managed to pick up a 1-1 draw in their opening group stage encounter, despite going 1-0 down on the night.

Two penalties ensured the spoils were shared, with Ryan Christie confidently stepping up to fire home and secure the point.

It sets Celtic up nicely for the other five matches in the group.

With Cluj also beating Lazio, it’s clear this one is going to be wide open.

Sutton picked out the performances of Christopher Jullien and Ryan Christie as notable in his instant full-time reaction on Twitter.

Commanding

The display from Jullien also caught the eye of supporters on social media, with some pointing out he looks well worth the summer outlay paid by the Hoops.

On tonight’s evidence it’s hard to argue against that.

As WhoScored show, he was hard to get past, racking up three tackles, three interceptions and three interceptions, as well as producing a healthy 88% pass success rate.

It’s the kind of performance that Celtic will need more of throughout the coming matches, especially away from home.

If Jullien can help keep things tight at the back, then the Hoops can grab something at the other end with quality players such as James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard on hand.
