Doubts remain over the future of Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.

Chris Sutton has told the Daily Record that he wants Neil Lennon to take over from Brendan Rodgers – if the current Celtic boss decides to leave the Scottish Champions in the near future.
Rodgers continues to be linked with job after job down south, and former Hoops striker Sutton believes that the Northern Irishman will eventually be tempted into a move elsewhere.
The former Liverpool boss was touted as Arsene Wenger’s possible replacement at Arsenal in the summer before the Gunners went for Unai Emery, while he was also linked to Aston Villa earlier this month.
He has a contract until 2021, but if Rodgers does indeed leave, then Sutton is desperate to see Celtic bring current Hibernian manager Lennon back to Parkhead – and identified two areas in which he is better than Rodgers.
“My own gut feeling is he wants a change but I can’t say I’ve a definitive idea of what Rodgers is thinking,” Sutton said. “Maybe Rodgers has accepted this situation and will be happy to ignore all advances and stay to the end of his contract.
“If that scenario does change, Celtic can surely look no further than Lennon. Lennon comes into his own when you look at the European competition. I’d say he’s done better than Rodgers in that sphere.
“There isn’t a Celtic fan who doesn’t know who was responsible for signing Gary Hooper, Virgil van Dijk or Victor Wanyama. He made a few bad signings as well, but the evidence tells me Lennon has a better eye.”

Since joining Celtic, Rodgers has won every possible domestic trophy there is to win, completing a double treble and is now in the semi-final for the first of this season – facing Hearts in the Scottish League Cup.
Lennon, 47, has a contract at Easter Road until the summer of 2020, but a chance to return to Celtic – with whom he played for during his career and then managed – would be too good to turn down.
