Brendan Rodgers picked Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton to play in defence during his side’s Champions League match last night.
Celtic absolutely dominated Astana in Champions League qualifying and picked up a 5-0 win last night, which should seal their progress to the group stages of the European competition.
However, Brendan Rodgers was forced to place Nir Bitton into his backline, despite the Israeli being more comfortable in midfield.

Bitton actually looked commanding at the back for Celtic, but Sutton feels that it is an area of weakness in Rodgers’ squad.
Indeed, the former Bhoys striker claims that he has doubts over the quality of Bitton, Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko.
“I think they’re short of another centre half,” Sutton said. “The Bitton gamble works when you win 5-0, but I’m not sure about him long term. And then Boyata and Sviatchenko, I’m not sure about them either. I think that’s a position he can strengthen.”
Celtic are likely to have their transfer budget boosted, with the Bhoys’ European progress almost sealed.
Celtic’s 5-0 victory in the first leg against Astana, effectively makes the tie in Kazakhstan next week a dead rubber.
