The Rangers defender made his full debut for Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox on Saturday.

The Rangers defender, Gareth McAuley, would not have made BT Sport’s Scottish Premiership team of the week had it been for the former Celtic striker, Chris Sutton.

McAuley helped Rangers to a 3-0 win over Livingston at Ibrox, on what was his first start since joining Steven Gerrard’s side at the start of September.

And that was enough for Sutton’s BT Sport colleague, Darrell Currie, to include the Northern Irishman over the Englishman’s pick, Dedryck Boyata – who helped Celtic beat Hamilton by an identical scoreline.

Sutton tweeted the pair’s final, combined XI on Monday morning, writing:

Goalscorer Alfredo Morelos is the only other Rangers player to feature, with Ryan Christie Celtic’s only representative.

Saturday’s results saw Rangers climb above Hearts into second position, where they remain two points behind their Glasgow rivals, whom they face at Ibrox at the end of December.
