Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were eliminated from Europe last month but Celtic march on, as Chris Sutton pointed out.
Celtic edged past Rosenborg in Norway on Wednesday night to reach the final stage of Champions League qualifiers.
James Forrest’s strike on 69 minutes helped Celtic to a 1-0 victory on the night as Brendan Rodgers’s side progressed by that aggregate scoreline, after the 0-0 draw in Glasgow.
With last week’s result in mind, it was seen as a big test for the Bhoys but one they ultimately passed and now the Scottish champions are 180 minutes from the group stages again.
Understandably, Rangers fans were not over the moon and one Gers supporter in particular questioned Sutton’s use of the word “courage” in a post-match celebratory tweet on Celtic’s win.
Rangers were dumped out of the Europa League at the first hurdle last month following a shock defeat by Progres Niederkorn in what is widely considered their worst ever result.
And Sutton alluded to the Ibrox club’s setback in a witty riposte to the fan’s foul-mouthed tweet – and those on the green half of the Old Firm divide loved it.
Celtic kick off the defence of their Premiership title with a clash against Hearts on Saturday, while Rangers travel to Motherwell on Sunday.
