Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will face Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup on Saturday.

Scott Brown of Celtic is seen at full time during the Scottish Premier League between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Chris Sutton has suggested in The Daily Record that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers should not include Scott Brown in the starting lineup against Aberdeen.

Celtic will take on Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen at Celtic Park in the final of the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park on Glasgow on Sunday.

The 33-year-old former Scotland international midfielder is fit and available for the final, having recovered from injury to feature in the Europa League game against Rosenborg on Thursday evening.

Former Celtic striker Sutton does not think that Rodgers should include the former Hibernian star in the staying lineup against Aberdeen.

Sutton wrote in The Daily Record: “Having Scott Brown back and Olivier Ntcham available provides midfield option, but not one of the lads who started the game in Norway deserves to be dropped.”

Unthinkable decision

Brown is one of the best and most combative midfielders in the Scottish Premiership, and it is quite unthinkable that he will not start the final as he is fully fit.

However, in the absence of the 33-year-old, the likes of Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie have been playing well.

Perhaps Rodgers should stick to the lineup that has been successful in recent weeks. After all, having Brown as an option off the bench would be great.
