Is Juan Foyth the weak link for Tottenham Hotspur?

Chris Sutton has suggested to The Daily Mail that Juan Foyth might represent a weak link for Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.

Spurs, who have won their last six games on the trot, visit Arsenal tomorrow for a North London derby at the Emirates.

All eyes are on Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to see if he recalls Foyth, who was ineligible to face Inter Milan on Wednesday, or continues with Jan Vertonghen.

The veteran Belgian centre-back returned to Pochettino’s first XI in midweek for what was his first game in over two months due to injury.

In that time, Foyth has established himself as an excellent player for the Lilywhites, and his form resulted in him making his debut for Argentina during the international break.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for the 20-year-old centre-back, who conceded two penalties in the win at Wolves last month, and Sutton says that the young South American is prone to errors and could be specifically targeted by the Gunners.

“I was impressed by Juan Foyth’s display at Crystal Palace,” Sutton wrote in The Daily Mail.

“But the young defender can be pressured into a mistake. He conceded two penalties at Wolves and could be a player Arsenal try to target.”

A lot of Tottenham fans won’t agree with Sutton’s assessment.

Yes Foyth had a bit of a mare at Molineux, but the way in which he has bounced back is exceptional, with the youngster scoring the winner at Crystal Palace a week later.

Is he ready for his first North London derby? Yes, but Pochettino should still pair Vertonghen with Toby Alderweireld.
