The West Ham United forward would be ideal for Chelsea, according to Chris Sutton.
When speaking during a guest appearance on BBC Radio Five Live last night, Chris Sutton suggested that he doesn’t understand why Chelsea have not made a move for West Ham hitman Marko Arnautovic this month.
The 29-year-old faces an uncertain future with the Hammers, having been heavily linked with a move to China, although as things stand, he remains very much a West Ham player.
Arnie joined the east London club from Stoke City in the summer of 2017, for around £20 million, and he has gone on to firmly establish himself as somewhat of a cult hero amongst the London Stadium faithful.
He is in danger of severely tarnishing that reputation, however.
If West Ham do end up selling the striker, they would surely only do so on the proviso that he moves abroad, but Sutton suggested that Chelsea would be the ideal destination for the Austrian, when speaking exclusively to BBC Radio Five Live last night:
“Arnautovic has been so important to West Ham over the period. They aren’t replacing him. They can’t replace him and that’s the frustration. He is such a talent. I don’t understand why Chelsea don’t come in for him. Are you saying he’s replaceable? Who are they going to attract that’s better than him? He’s been their best player. He kept them up.”
If Arnautovic does end up leaving the Hammers, David Gold and David Sullivan will surely demand a hefty fee, and it might just be in the east London outfit’s best interest to part ways with a player who clearly wants to leave.
That being said, selling him to Chelsea should not, and surely will not happen.
