Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was sent off at the weekend, and Chris Sutton believes that he should not play for the Ibrox side again.

Chris Sutton has told the Daily Record that Steven Gerrard should not pick Alfredo Morelos again, and Rangers should sell the striker in the summer after his Old Firm red card.
Morelos’ game ended during the first-half when an off-the-ball clash with Scott Brown led to the Colombian throwing an elbow at the Celtic captain. The linesman appeared to see the incident and advised Bobby Madden to send the Gers’ top goalscorer off.
Rangers responded superbly to going a man down and were definitely the better side after the break, with Ryan Kent scoring a brilliant equaliser and the Gers putting Neil Lennon’s men under serious pressure before a mistake from James Tavernier proved decisive and allowed the home side to win the game.
Morelos has infuriated a lot of Rangers supporters with his actions, with many feeling extremely let down after defending him so vehemently throughout the campaign.

And Sutton has urged Gerrard to cash in this summer while leaving him out of the team in the meantime, and he also hit out at suggestions that Morelos is a contender to win the player of the year award.
“He has surely played his last game in a Rangers shirt. If I was Steven Gerrard I would sell him at the first opportunity and not select him in the very few games for which he will now be free of suspension between now and the end of the campaign,” he told the Daily Record. “That’s the fifth time this season the Colombian has seen red and the manager has backed him again and again and again.
“He’s a liability. I’ve heard a few people in the game touting for him to be named Player of the Year. Don’t make me laugh. He’s playing for a team that won’t win anything and once again he cost his club in a match that mattered.”

From a goalscoring perspective, Morelos has enjoyed an outstanding campaign. His ability in front of goal is the reason that Gerrard has not given up on him and picked him 45 times this season.
He is still young, so it would be understandable if Rangers did decide to keep faith with him beyond this summer. Replacing him is not going to be easy when he does leave Ibrox. His replacement may spend more time on the pitch, but they will have to be something special to replicate his goals tally.
But perhaps Rangers will be a lot more open to offers for Morelos this summer than they expected to be before the latest Old Firm game.
