Chris Sutton has predicted in The Daily Record that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will remain at the club next season.
Rodgers was appointed the Celtic manager in the summer of 2016 following the departure of Ronny Deila at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
As stated on the Bhoys’ official website, the former Liverpool manager agreed a 12-month rolling contract with the Glasgow giants.
Celtic have done brilliantly so far this season. The Hoops progressed to the group stage of the Champions League, have won the Scottish League Cup and have taken a 19-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table – with a game in hand.
Rodgers is a very good manager – he showed that at Liverpool – and given the obvious attraction of the Premier League, many will suspect that he will eventually want to return to England.
Former Celtic striker Sutton has predicted that the ex-Swansea City manager will remain at Celtic Park next season.
The Englishman believes that the (reportedly) imminent signing of Kouassi Eboue suggests that Rodgers wants to stay at the Glasgow giants for the 2017-18 campaign.
According to Scotzine, the 19-year-old midfielder has flown out to Dubai with Celtic and will join the Scottish club in a £2.8million move from Russian side Krasnodar.
“To turn things around in such a short space of time can only be viewed positively,” Sutton wrote in The Daily Record.
“He will just want to keep building which is why he made a statement by spending almost £3million on a 19-year-old midfielder.
“The very fact he’s looking to bring in Kouassi Eboue this week is a good sign and tells me he’s in it at the very least for next season. And why would he want to go anywhere?”
