Celtic beat Old Firm rivals Glasgow Rangers 2-0 at Ibrox on a day where none of Pedro Caixinha’s men covered themselves in glory – except maybe one.

Chris Sutton has opted against selecting Rangers youngster Ross McCrorie in his BT Sport’s Team of the Week.

The 19-year-old started Rangers’ 2-0 defeat by Old Firm rivals Celtic in Saturday’s clash at Ibrox.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers vies with Jack Aitchison of Celtic during The Scottish FA Youth Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park on April 26, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Being fair, the youngster, who was making only his second appearance for the Gers, produced a decent performance in the absence of the injured Bruno Alves.

However, Celtic legend Sutton instead selected Scott McKenna of Aberdeen and Hibernian’s Paul Hanlon – who scored in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Ross County – but even some Celtic fans on Twitter have put loyalties to one side to question why McCrorie was absent.

Chris Sutton of Celtic slips and kicks his penalty over the bar during The Tennents Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Dundee United at Hampden Park on May 28, 2005 in Glasgow, Scotland.

If one Rangers player did deserve a mention then it was surely McCrorie. He certainly looks like a very decent prospect, though fans of the Ibrox club need only remember the likes of David Bates and Myles Beerman before getting overly excited about him.

Bates and Beerman progressed into the Gers’ first-team squad under Caixinha toward the end of last season, but neither have kicked a ball in the Premiership this season.
