Dele Alli has scored just three goals for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this season.

Chris Sutton has told Match of the Day Two Extra, which was broadcast on BBC Two on 17th December, that he feels Tottenham Hotspur are not performing because of Dele Alli’s failures this season.

Alli has been well short of his best in recent weeks, and received heavy criticism for his performance against Manchester City at the weekend.

Spurs were beaten 4-1 by City at the Etihad Stadium, and Alli’s showing was most noteworthy for a terrible tackle he performed on Kevin de Bruyne.

Alli has become a key player rapidly at Spurs, but his performance this term have disappointed.

And Sutton claims that Alli’s off colour displays are the reason why Tottenham have not hit the heights of previous seasons.

“Dele Alli this season has been a massive disappointment, especially in the league,” Sutton said.

“I don’t think he has turned up. He needs to get back to doing what he does best, and that is performing on the pitch. I think that is the biggest reason Spurs aren’t performing, perhaps they are a bit of a one man team.”

Alli has scored just three goals in 17 Premier League appearances this season, with the England international not finding the net with any frequency.

Spurs’ defeat to City has left them down in seventh in the top flight standings, with serious questions now being asked about their top four credentials.

Tottenham are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
