Rangers flop Lee Hodson has said that the standard in League One isn’t too different from the quality he experienced in the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers dumped the Northern Ireland international last month after a dismal three-year spell at Ibrox.
Hodson, who has signed for Gillingham in the third tier of English football, managed only 17 league appearances during his spell at Rangers.
The 27-year-old told Kent Online: “Rangers is a massive club and I was playing infront of 50,000 fans at home games but the standard in League 1 is just as good as the Scottish Premier League.”
The comments haven’t gone down well North of the border – and particularly not with pundit Chris Sutton.
Hodson was an unused substitute in five successive Premiership games for St Mirren toward the end of last season, and the Celtic legend has mocked him over that.
The Northern Irishman earned a 22-minute cameo in a stunning 5-5 draw with Hibernian on the final day of the 2017-18 campaign.
That remains his last-ever appearance in a Rangers shirt, and it was his first Premiership outing for the light Blues since a 2-1 defeat by Kilmarnock in December of 2017.
