Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off against Lyon last night.

Everton were beaten 3-0 by Lyon in the Europa League yesterday, and Schneiderlin’s display has been heavily criticised.
The French midfielder never got going in the match, and eventually was sent off, after picking up two avoidable bookings.
Schneiderlin had his name taken for persistent dissent, and then he hacked a Lyon player down needlessly late on.

And Sutton claims that Schneiderlin has totally let David Unsworth down with his actions.
“I have to say Unsworth has my utmost sympathy,” Sutton said. “I wonder if he regrets his team selection. He said the players gave him everything, but I’d dispute that. Schneiderlin didn’t want to be on the pitch – he let David Unsworth down.”
Everton’s defeat against Lyon has seen them crash out of the Europa League, and they have still not won a game in the group stage of the competition.

The Toffees have been abject in Europe this term, and they are not fairing any better in domestic matters.
Everton are currently in 18th place in the Premier League table, and look to be locked in a relegation battle.
Everton are next in action at the weekend, when they are on Watford, and another defeat would be disastrous for Unsworth’s chances of getting the job on a permanent basis.
