Emilio Izaguirre will do well to play another game for Celtic.
With Kieran Tierney absent, Brendan Rodgers selected the Celtic fan favourite to replace the young Scot at left-back.
But it didn’t go well.
The 32-year-old, who Rodgers brought back to Parkhead last summer, had a dismal first 45 minutes in this afternoon’s visit to Aberdeen – and conceded a penalty.
Izaguirre fouled Niall McGinn inside the box on 24 minutes, before Stevie May converted the resulting spot kick. It was a disastrous decision to slide in on McGinn and a stonewall penalty.
He was hooked by Rodgers at half time and Celtic legend Sutton has labelled the Honduras international as ‘daft’.
It certainly was daft and you wonder whether that’ll be the end of his time at Parkhead, considering Jonny Hayes looked a much better deputy left-back against his old side.
It was an excellent game at Pittodrie, with Celtic netting two late goals to seal a dramatic 4-3 victory, after a Sam Cosgrove penalty made it 2-2 after 83 minutes.
