The Celtic man put in a terrific display against RB Leipzig on Thursday night.
Ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton offered high words of praise for Ryan Christie, when speaking exclusively to the Daily Record, admitting that he really admires the recent resurgence of the 23-year-old.
Christie has struggled for game-time this season, but he put in an excellent display against RB Leipzig in the Europa League on Thursday night, teeing up Odsonne Edouard for the Hoops’ winner.
The Scotland international joined Celtic from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the summer of 2015, but he has made just 11 starts in all competitions for the Glasgow giants.
Sutton raved about Christie’s recent resurgence, when speaking exclusively to the Daily Record, suggesting that the attacking midfielder must be like a new signing for Brendan Rodgers:
“You have to admire the resurgence of Christie. When Rodgers was talking a few weeks ago about having too many players you’d have thought he would have fell in to that category. Christie probably thought so as well. Now the club need to get him in a headlock. He needed a bit of fortune to get his chance but he has really grasped it. What’s impressed me most is his work-rate. Everyone knew Christie was a nice footballer but on Thursday night you saw his willingness to do the defensive work. Any time he did give the ball away he bust a gut to get it back. Players can often take the huff when not involved but he’s obviously decided to work his backside off to give himself a opportunity. Christie has been like a new signing for Rodgers.”
Next up for Celtic is a trip to the Almondvale Stadium to take on Livingstone in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, and Christie will be hoping for another chance to impress his manager against Gary Holt’s side.
