Celtic kept alive their hopes of qualifying from their Europa League group on Thursday night.
Chris Sutton admitted that he did not see Celtic’s win over RB Leipzig coming, when speaking exclusively to the Daily Record, praising his former club for their performance against the Bundesliga outfit.
The Hoops made a slow start to their 2018/19 campaign, but they now seem to have hit their stride, winning their last four games in all competitions, and scoring an impressive 15 goals in the process.
Brendan Rodgers’ men kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the knock-out stages of the Europa League after Thursday night’s win over Leipzig, and the players will be confident in their chances of doing just that.
Sutton offered high words of praise for Celtic, when speaking exclusively to the Daily Record, admitting that he did not see their win over Ralf Rangnick’s men coming:
“Fair play. The performance against the Germans in Glasgow was outstanding. That was the Euro nights we all go so used to at Celtic Park, when the team and support always believed they could beat any side that came to town. There were a few hairy moments late on but there are always going to be times when you need to hang on when you are playing the top sides. It might sound silly, but even if Kevin Kampl had scored with his effort that hit the bar late on, I’d still think it was an encouraging performance. Holding on for the victory was outstanding. I must admit I didn’t see it coming.”
Next up for Celtic is a trip to Livingstone tomorrow, and Rodgers’ men will be confident of chalking up their fifth straight win in all competitions.
