Chris Sutton has told BBC Radio 5 Live that Celtic wanted to sign Timothy Castagne at Celtic, whilst Micah Richards has hailed the transfer business Leicester have done in recent years.

Whilst Rodgers’ relationship with the Celtic faithful has soured, one thing is for sure, he knows how to pick out young talent and he is showing that at the King Power Stadium.

This season Castagne arrived from Italian side Atalanta for a fee of £22 million [Sky Sports], whilst another player wowing supporters is teenager Wesley Fofana.

Former Manchester City right-back Richards lauded the Foxes and how they operate in the transfer market, whilst Sutton shared his Castagne claims.

“You know in terms of recruitment, look at Leicester’s recruitment,” said Richards. “It has been absolutely fantastic. Kante, who they managed to get [many seasons ago].

“Castagne as well, who they have brought in when Pereira gets injured. Fofana as well. Söyüncü. How much did they pay for him? Whoever is doing the recruitment at Leicester deserves a gold star. The way they are bringing players through is a joy to see.”

New York Times journalist Rory Smith added: “Castagne was in that Atalanta team that got into the Champions League two years in a row. Leicester should have known about Timothy Castagne that’s a more original form of scouting.”

Sutton then responded: “Brendan Rodgers tried to sign him when he was at Celtic. Then he moved to Atalanta [from Belgium].”

The manner in which Rodgers left Celtic will always leave a bitter taste in Celtic fans mouths and he may never be forgiven for his actions.

But, at this moment in time, his Foxes side are sitting top of the tree in the Premier League and last season they missed out on a Champions League place on the last day of the season.

All in all, the quality transfer business Rodgers conducted at Parkhead is now being brought forward to the Midlands, where a potential title challenge could be on the cards for those at the King Power.
