Shane Duffy could have hardly imagined a better start to life as a Celtic player.
The Republic of Ireland international joined his boyhood club on a £2m season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month.
And despite being a centre-back, Duffy already has two goals in his first two games for Celtic.
The powerful defender scored a thumping header in the demolition of Ross County last weekend, before finding the net again in last night’s narrow win away to St Mirren.
Neil Lennon’s side won 2-1 to move within three points of top-of-the-table Rangers – who have played one game more – and it was Duffy’s equaliser on 21 minutes that proved a massive goal.
Here’s how Hoops legend Chris Sutton reacted to the win on Twitter afterwards.
Tam McManus claimed last weekend that Duffy could score double figures for Celtic this season.
And although he’s a central defender, it really isn’t looking like a bad shout from the former Hibernian man now.
What a huge player he could be for Lennon and the Bhoys this season as Celtic go hunting a 10th Premiership title in a row.
