Chris Sutton has reminded a Tottenham fan that his club are sitting seventh in the Premier League table and only recently reached the Champions League final after the fan claimed that the club has ‘died’.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side produced another lacklustre display on Saturday afternoon, as they recorded a 1-1 draw against Watford, with Dele Alli scoring a controversial goal.

It has been a difficult start to the season for Spurs, who have produced a number of abject performances in every competition they have played in this season.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (19/10/2019), Sutton shut down the Tottenham fan who claimed Spurs have died by sharing some straight facts about what has happened in recent months.

“Your club hasn’t died,” Sutton told the Spurs fan. “You’re seventh in the Premier League table. You haven’t had a great start to the season. A few months ago you were in the Champions League final. You’ve not died, you’ve just had a blip.”

Tottenham fans will be hoping that their current bad run of form is just a ‘blip’ because Pochettino is, without doubt, enduring his worst period as Spurs manager.

Winning games will only solve the short-term issue for the club, as it seems as though there are perhaps more long-term issues that also need to be sorted by the manager.

He has showcased before that he has the tools to fix the current job in hand and once again transform this Spurs team into one of the most exciting in the league.
