Tom Rogic has been excellent for much of the season for Celtic, and impressed in their Scottish Premiership win over Aberdeen.

Chris Sutton has told BT Sport’s live post-match coverage of Celtic’s clash with Aberdeen (broadcast on 25th October 2017 from 19:15) that Tom Rogic simply has to start the Hoops’ Champions League clash with Bayern Munich next week.

Rogic has featured in eight of the Bhoys’ 10 Scottish Premiership games this term, but has started on just six occasions during that time – but he demonstrated his class with an impressive performance in Celtic’s hugely emphatic 3-0 win over the Dons which saw Brendan Rodgers’ side move themselves three points clear at the top of the table.

After Kilmarnock at the weekend, Celtic face Bayern Munich in Europe looking to avenge the 3-0 defeat they suffered in the Allianz Arena when it could have arguably been an even heavier defeat.

And Sutton insisted after watching the Australian’s excellent display at Pittodrie that Rogic – who came on as a second-half substitute in Munich – must start the rematch at Parkhead next week.

“I bang the drum for Tom Rogic, but I think he has to play in the big games. Who am I to criticise Brendan Rodgers with the run he’s been on domestically? But he’ll take the ball in, half-turn, see a pass, slide a pass. I think he makes such a difference. He’s a must on Tuesday night against Munich,” he told BT Sport’s live post-match coverage of Celtic’s clash with Aberdeen (broadcast on 25th October 2017 from 19:15).

While Rogic does not always make an impact, Rodgers should surely consider taking a gamble and selecting the players against Bayern who could be capable of producing those 10 out of 10 performances rather than the ones who frequently produce a 6 or 7 out of 10 display – and Rogic is arguably one of those players who could produce the kind of magic that the Hoops will need if they are to pull off a major upset.
