Celtic set up a Champions League tie with Rosenborg on Wednesday night.

Chris Sutton has warned Celtic that a “tough test” awaits them in the Champions League after booking a tie with Rosenborg last night.

Brendan Rodgers’s side eased into the last qualification round of the competition by thumping Linfield 4-0 in Parkhead to cap a 6-0 aggregate victory.

Two goals from Scott Sinclair, either side of a Tom Rogic second, helped Celtic into a commanding 3-0 lead by 54 minutes, before Scott Armstrong added a fourth late on.

The Norwegian outfit needed extra time to beat Irish champions Dundalk, after it finished 1-1 on the night and 2-2 on aggregate.

And the Celtic legend believes that Rodgers and co will need to be ready for a more rigourous examination of their group-stage ambitions next time around.

Although Rosenborg will indeed be harder, Celtic should still have enough.

The Scottish champions, who won a domestic treble last season without losing a game, have the incentive of knowing just how special European nights in the Champions League can be after last season.

Rodgers led them into the group stages last term and although they did not win a match, the Northern Irishman did mastermind draws against Manchester City home and away, as well as one in Borussia Monchengladbach.
