One of the major talking points from last weekend’s football games in Scotland was Rangers’ 2-0 defeat against Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

A finely taken brace from Louis Moult sent Motherwell into the final. And the defeat now adds more pressure on Pedro Caixinha.

Moult scored the first goal in the 52nd minute when he volleyed home following a scramble in the Rangers’ six-yard box.

He scored a sublime first-time lob over goalkeeper Jak Alnwick to give Motherwell a 2-0 lead in the 74th minute.

Motherwell are just a point and a place below Rangers in the Scottish Premier League. The defeat shows how far Rangers have fallen behind the top teams in Scotland, and according to Chris Sutton, Pedro Caixinha should be removed from his job.

The former Celtic player turned football pundit reflecting on the game noted that Rangers were “toothless” against Motherwell. He also said in the post-match analysis that Caixinha is an under achiever and should be sacked.
