Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has already delivered his first trophy to the Glasgow club.
Chris Sutton has told the Daily Record that he was surprised when Brendan Rodgers stated that the success of his time at Celtic would not be defined by how many trophies he won.
Before the Scottish League Cup final, Rodgers insisted that Celtic’s progress could not just be measured in silverware.
However, Sutton insists that bringing trophies to Glasgow is all that will matter to Celtic fans at the end of his time in charge.
“I was a bit surprised by Brendan’s comments before the final, his statement that silverware won’t define him as a manager was a strange one,” Sutton said. “At a club like Celtic, silverware is the important thing.
“There was a point which he was making and I understood that, but it’s always about winning trophies.”
Rodgers has made a brilliant start at Celtic, with the improvements the Glasgow side have made very evident.
Celtic may have won the league under Ronny Deila last term, but their performances have been vastly improved this time around.
Rodgers has also delivered his first trophy to Celtic Park already, after guiding the Bhoys to victory in the Scottish League Cup final against Aberdeen yesterday.
Celtic ran out 3-0 winners against the Dons, and they looked comfortable throughout the match.
Celtic are still unbeaten in domestic action this season, with their next match coming against Motherwell on Saturday.
