Chris Sutton has suggested Everton had a lucky escape after missing out on France international midfielder Moussa Sissoko.
Sissoko joined Tottenham Hotspur from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day, but had appeared at one stage to be heading to Everton after they agreed a £30 million fee for his services.

The midfielder had a disappointing campaign as Newcastle were relegated last season, but looked like a different player for France at Euro 2016.
Asked for his thoughts on the Sissoko deal, Chris Sutton, a regular guest on BBC Radio 5 Live, said that Everton’s near miss could be a blessing in disguise.
Sissoko, 27, signed a five-year deal at Tottenham and will have the opportunity to play Champions League football.
He showed at Euro 2016 he is a player who relishes the big stage, and could thrive for Spurs and prove his doubters wrong, but it is hard for Everton to be too despondent about missing out on him at £30 million due to his inconsistent performances.
