Former Celtic star warns of tougher challenges to come.
Chris Sutton – Celtic celebrates his goal for 1-0
Former Celtic striker and pundit Chris Sutton has indicated he would like to see more from a pair of the club’s defenders before lavishing them with praise.
Neither Cristian Gamboa nor Dedryck Boyata made his BT Sport Team of the Week, with Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney the only two Celtic stars to get the nod.
Quizzed by a supporter why the pair did not make it in, and Sutton cited the poor standard of opposition as a reason not to be overly enthusiastic.
Celtic eased to a 2-0 win at the weekend, and rarely looked like losing their unbeaten record in domestic football all season.
Hamilton are bottom of the league with just 21 points compared to Celtic’s 76, and have won only three games since the campaign began.
While Sutton may then have a point not to get too excited about players doing well in a game against the bottom ranked side, Celtic are so head and shoulders above the rest of the division, it is a legitimate question to ask as to who does actually represent a tough test?
On the basis of this season, second placed Aberdeen and third placed Rangers do not count, not until they can prove otherwise.
