Everton drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.

Former Celtic player turned football pundit Chris Sutton believes that Everton’s caretaker boss David Unsworth should not be given the permanent job.
Everton are going through a terrible form at the moment, having won just once in their last 10 games in all competitions. However, under Unsworth, they have not lost their last two games in the Premier League.

The Toffees have shown great fighting spirit under Unsworth winning 3-2 against Watford before the international break. And on Saturday, they twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Sutton says that Everton cannot afford to offer Unsworth the permanent role. He opines that Everton need someone who could guarantee them Premier League safety, especially with the amount of money they have spent in the summer.
He adds that Unsworth cannot be trusted for this task. Everton have been reportedly linked with a move for Marco Silva, but it is highly unlikely Watford will allow their manager to move especially after such a good start to the season.

“They can’t give it to David Unsworth. Because of the money they have spent in the summer…they cannot afford to go down,” said Sutton to BBC Sport.
“David Unsworth couldn’t be trusted. He couldn’t be trusted with the money they have spent. Everton want guaranteed Premier League safety.”
