Chris Sutton says Craig Gordon should cut out his mistakes.

Former Celtic player turned football pundit, Chris Sutton wrote in his column for The Daily Record that he does not have any personal issues with Craig Gordon.
The Celtic goalkeeper has accused Sutton of being too negative in his criticism, saying that his attacks on him are personal.
Sutton has rubbished such claims, saying he doesn’t know the player personally, and he is merely doing his job as a critic.
“I don’t have a problem with him having a go at me. In fact, fair play to him. He’s entitled to come out and voice his opinion,” wrote Sutton for The Daily Record.
But don’t think it’s something personal. It’s far from it. I don’t know Craig personally but it’s his job to keep the ball out of the net and it’s my job to highlight it when he makes a mistake.”
The former Blackburn striker recalls that he has praised Gordon in the past, and still considers him a top-class player.

Sutton says that he has a lot of admiration for him, especially the way he cemented his position in the side after returning from a career threatening injury.
“I have a lot of admiration for Craig, especially the way he came back from his career-threatening injury to play for Celtic.
“He was superb in those first couple of seasons. There is no doubt he is a top-class keeper but if you are then you can’t afford your standards to drop.”
However, Sutton believes that Gordon is letting his standards drop, and he is making too many errors at the moment.
The football pundit has pointed out a list of mistakes Gordon has made over the past two years, saying there has been a worrying increase in the frequency of errors he’s making.

“His distribution has improved but there are times he looks like Bambi on ice and is making too many errors. Those are facts.
“Yes, he’s not lost a domestic game for 18 months but you can’t ignore everything else. There have been too many mistakes and if Craig is happy with that lot I’d suggest the real problem is he is setting his standards too low.
Sutton says that Gordon is setting his standards too low, and has advised him to cut his mistakes out.
“But it’s not an agenda or a campaign against him. If Craig is unhappy with what I have been saying then there is an easy solution. Cut out the mistakes.”
The BT Sport pundit is spot on with his assessment. Gordon is a very good player no doubt, and he showed flashes of brilliance against Ross County. However, he has made glaring mistakes, and is lacking consistency at times.
