Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has made a rather bold claim about the club.
Chris Sutton has taken to social networking site Twitter to respond to Peter Lawwell’s bold claim about Celtic.
Celtic chief executive Lawwell has claimed that if the Bhoys were playing in the Premier League, then they could be the biggest club in Great Britain.
“If we played in a league like the English Premier League, we could be the biggest,” Lawwell told The Daily Record.
“We have the history, we have the story to tell, we have a global fanbase and we have the facilities,” added the 57-year-old.
“We have the profile of a big European club but we don’t have domestic TV revenues. Our fundamentals are so strong.”

Former Celtic striker Sutton has shared his opinion on the matter on Twitter.

Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have been dominant in the Scottish Premiership over the past few years.
While many will laugh at Lawwell’s comments, there is some logic in them.
Celtic’s home ground can hold around 60,000 fans, and one suspects that Celtic Park would be packed for every game they would play in the Premier League.
Champions League matches at Celtic Park are a sell-out, and the atmosphere created at the ground is electric.
However, if the Bhoys were playing in the Premier League, then they would only be able to lay claim to being the biggest club in Great Britain if they were regularly successful.
Manchester United are the biggest club of England, and that is mainly because the Red Devils have been successful over the years, both in the Premier League and in the Champions League.
